We are working diligently to plan for the upcoming school year. We are doing everything we can to make sure we reopen school safely during this unprecedented time. It is of the utmost importance that we provide our families with both in-person and e-learning learning options that keep everyone safe and are in line with the expectations for the 2020-21 school year that the Archdiocese has outlined in the Reopening with Trust plan.
Yesterday, we learned that STA will provide both in-person learning and e-learning to our students. Each option will be taught by STA faculty. STA families will have a choice of either option for their K-8 child(ren).
The Archdiocese has communicated that Pre-K students will only participate in in-person learning. As a result, we have redesigned our Pre-K program for the 2020-21 school year. We will have 2 sections of Pre-K 4 and each classroom will be capped at 16 students. Students who would enroll in Pre-K 3 for the 2020-21 school year may enroll in a Pre-K 4 classroom for this year. (Pre-K 3 aged children will advance to Pre-K 4 the following school year).
We have developed a plan for the year that we are confident in, but we need additional time to prepare for its successful implementation. We have decided to change the first day of school to Monday, August 24. This will allow us the opportunity to provide our school faculty with ample time to prepare for this change of providing both in-person and e-learning instruction. In addition, it will allow more time for the COVID-19 outbreak to be better under control before we reopen the building.
Due to the later start date, we will now use the four scheduled teacher in-service days as e-learning days for ALL students in order to meet the school calendar day requirement set by the Archdiocese. These in-service days will no longer be a “day off” for students, but will instead be days in which they will complete e-learning school work. These days are: Friday 9/25, Friday 11/13, Friday 2/19 and Friday 4/30. We will provide more information on these e-learning days once the school year begins.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation and support and encourage all families to participate in the Virtual Town Hall next week on Thursday, August 6th to learn more about STA’s plans.
