8th Grade Class Visits Shrine of Christ’s Passion

Date posted: April 19, 2014

IMG_7341As part of their Lenten experience, St. Thomas the Apostle eighth graders took a spiritual journey through the Shrine of Christ’s Passion, an interactive pathway with 40 life-sized bronze statues depicting the Stations of the Cross in St. John, Indiana.  The prayerful environment brought Christ’s Passion to life, enabling students to sit with Him at the Lord’s Supper, pray with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, stand with Him before Pilate, walk along side Him on the road to Calvary,  hold His hand as He meets His mother and ultimately stand before Him at the foot of the cross.   The class was accompanied by Julie Welborn, Assistant Director of Catholic Identity and Mission for the Archdiocese of Chicago and Sr. Mary Judith, OP, whose reflections on the journey helped the students fully appreciate the impact of Christ’s life on their own.
