Like all schools, St. Thomas the Apostle conducts a limited number of fundraisers during the year to help bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of education. Often, fundraisers also serve as valuable occasions to foster the relationship between St. Thomas the Apostle and the greater Hyde Park community. Two programs, in particular, are the work of the Advancement Office with the support of the School Board, others are organized by our Home & School Association. All events and programs succeed due to numerous dedicated parent volunteers.
Opportunities to support STA include:
- Affy-Tapple Carmel Apple Sale held in the fall
- STArry Night, a community-wide event featuring dinner, a silent auction and raffles. This is STA’s “gala” and is produced by a committee assembled by the Advancement Office with the support of the School Board. This year’s event is scheduled for April 22, 2017.
- Reach for the STArs, the annual appeal for St. Thomas the Apostle School, is now one of the two major efforts of the STA Advancement Office. “Reach” made a very successful debut in the fall of 2016, raising $31,000 (matched by a generous donor).
- Wines and Steins Harvest Festival, a wine and craft beer tasting event held in the fall to benefit the St. Thomas the Apostle School Endowment Fund.
Other events held throughout the year help to promote St. Thomas the Apostle School and Catholic education in general. Information regarding STA’s Annual Halloween Party, Breakfast with Santa, and Book Fairs is provided through the Home & School Association, in the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish bulletin and on the school’s web site.
While STA parents in particular are encouraged to assist in the planning and execution of at least one of the fundraisers, everyone is enthusiastically invited to join in the fun through their attendance or support!
