Tuition/Financial Aid

When Pope John Paul II came to the United States in 1987, he stated that Catholic schools are “a gift to the nation and to the Church.”  They are also a gift to our children.  Families who choose Catholic schools are giving their child the gift of a solid educational foundation that prepares them for a lifetime of learning.  It is an investment in the future, one that cannot be measured in dollars and cents alone.

School Tuition, Fees & Support

Registration Fee for New & Continuing Students (Non-refundable)
$195.00 per student; due after acceptance for new students/due at re-registration for continuing students.

Materials Fee for New & Continuing Students (Non-refundable)
$400.00 per student; due after acceptance for new students/due at re-registration for continuing students.

Graduation Fee
An 8th grade graduation fee is determined once all graduation activities have been finalized and is due in full by April 15th.

Tuition for the 2017-18 School Year
Tuition is typically paid on a 9-month or 10-month plan but may also be paid in full.  Families choose their payment plan when the financial agreement is signed.  A $40 fee is assessed to change plans after registration.

Tuition Payments

Tuition payments are due on a monthly basis, beginning in July or August depending on the chosen payment plan. Payments are due on the first or fifteenth of the month only.  Late payment fees are assessed after 14 days. Exclusion from school for non-payment of tuition and extended care takes effect the 16th of the month.   Tuition is paid only through the FACTS financial management system.  A $40 fee for FACTS is included in the registration fee.

Other School Support

Because tuition does not cover the full cost of education at St. Thomas the Apostle School, families are required to participate in annual fundraising events and to fulfill 20 volunteer service hours.  Both provide opportunities for building community and creating a special environment for learning within a caring community.  Details are outlined in the Parent and Student Handbook.

Financial Assistance

Families in need of financial assistance are encouraged to contact the principal.  Limited tuition assistance is available through school scholarship funds, the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Big Shoulders Fund.  All families applying for financial aid need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation along with $25 to FACTS Management Company  which will then provide an assistance assessment to St. Thomas the Apostle.  All information is kept confidential.  Detailed instructions are provided to families at the time of application.   If you have any further questions regarding the financial aid process, please call the school office at (773) 667-1142.
